A lunch bag redefined…

Celebrity Chef Mario Batali and Cosmoda Corporation Team Up to Create a Smart New Line of Reusable Lunch Bags

A Portion of the Proceeds to Benefit The Lunchbox Auction

August 2008 – Health conscious commuters and eco-friendly foodies will soon have a stylish and sophisticated solution to the troubles of transporting lunch, thanks to Chef Mario Batali and Cosmoda Corporation. Motivated by his own need for a “grown up” lunchbox, Cosmoda co-founder Andrew Menceles has developed a line of insulated lunch bags, masquerading as handbags, messenger bags and portfolios. In keeping with Cosmoda’s vision of creating fashion forward, life-enhancing goods, Menceles tapped Chef Batali for support. “Given his shared love of food, wine and the inherent joys of life, he was the only choice!” proclaims Menceles.

Co-designed by Cosmoda and Chef Batali, the attractive and functional, yet affordable line will feature a variety of colors and materials, including a durable high-density nylon in such shades as Black Pepper, Espresso, Pesto and Persimmon and brightly textured canvas prints. Styles range from satchels and totes to messenger bags and portfolios, plus the air travel inspired Crew Tote, featuring an insulated compartment to ensure a delicious onboard meal as well as a non-insulated section for all other travel needs. All bags have an easy-to-wipe lining guaranteed to keep food and drinks at their appropriate temperatures as well as a variety of pockets and compartments to ensure all around convenience.

In addition to his passion for environmental causes and, of course, outstanding food, Chef Batali firmly believes that all children should be well fed and well read. He therefore saw an opportunity to incorporate The Lunchbox Auction (www.thelunchboxauction.org), a non-profit organization devoted to feeding our children and giving them every opportunity to learn and live out their dreams. The Lunchbox Auction splits its proceeds between The Food Bank For New York City and The Lunchbox Fund. As a result of Chef Batali’s efforts, a portion of the proceeds from each lunch bag purchased will benefit the The Lunchbox Auction. Cosmoda and Mario Batali, lunch bags and The Lunchbox Auction…truly an ideal pairing.

Mario Batali Lunch Bags will be available in department stores and specialty retailers in October. Suggested retail prices range from $20 to $45. Being green and eating well never looked so good!
